Interior vs. Exterior Spray Treatment

Which does your Ontario home actually need? Here is the honest breakdown.

It is one of the most common questions we get on the phone: do I need the inside sprayed, the outside sprayed, or both? The honest answer depends on one thing, which is where the problem lives, and once you understand what each treatment does, the right call for your home is usually obvious.

What Exterior Treatment Does

An exterior spray treatment is a barrier play. A licensed technician treats the foundation, eaves, entry points and frames of your home with a weather and rain resistant product, creating a treated zone that controls more than 55 insect types, spiders and ants chief among them, before they ever get inside. It is the right tool when your problem is outside pressure: spiders webbing the porch and soffits, ants trailing in every spring, earwigs and boxelder bugs gathering on the walls.

One application delivers residual protection lasting up to three months, and because the treatment intercepts pests outdoors, most homes with exterior treatment simply stop seeing insects inside.

What Interior Treatment Does

An interior spray treatment solves what is already in the house. The technician applies a non repellent, odourless product to cracks, crevices and harbourage points, the places cockroaches, ants and silverfish actually hide, rather than misting it across your rooms. Insects cross the treated zones without detecting them and carry the product back to their harbourage, which is what makes the approach effective against established indoor activity.

Interior treatment is the right tool when insects are living inside: cockroaches in the kitchen, ants with an indoor nest, silverfish in the bathroom. It deals with the population at the source rather than waiting for them to wander outside.

So Which Do You Need?

Seeing pests outside or catching the odd one wandering in? Exterior. Seeing consistent activity indoors, especially in kitchens and bathrooms? Interior, and likely a look at what is letting them in. Dealing with both, or want the problem gone and the door closed behind it? Both together, which is the most complete option and the one we most often recommend for homes with active indoor problems.
